CoEd Supporter Spotlight
Tell us a little bit about yourself, including how you got involved with CoEd.
I grew up in Loveland (a suburb of Cincinnati). I went to St. X for high school and Xavier University. I met Joe and Jeff Berninger at XU. They invited me to Guatemala about six years ago. It was an incredible experience. After that, I was hooked.
Why did you make your first donation to CoEd?
I made my first donation for the same reason I still give. Like most people, I want to give to the charity where my buck will have the biggest bang. I have been involved with many charitable organizations in my life, and I have never found one that is as efficient and effective at fulfilling its mission as Cooperative for Education.
What are your impressions of traveling to Guatemala on a CoEd tour?
Meeting the people and experiencing the culture of Guatemala was a great experience. But it is very difficult to really put into words. It is something you have to experience for yourself!
Your business donates a portion of each sale to CoEd. What gave you the idea to connect CoEd with KidCarpet.com?
I believe every company has an obligation to give back. But companies, just like individuals, have a limited amount of money to give. So I look for the most effective and efficient charities to support. Also, many of the things that I do to connect the two organizations, such as adding a link to CoEd’s website on our site, costs me nothing. I would encourage every company and individual to consider even these small ways to give back. They can make a big difference.
