Dear Friend,

As CoEd looks ahead to plan for the future, we want to recognize all of the generous support you have provided in the past that allows us to do so. Together we can make our future impact in Guatemala even stronger, and provide more children there the opportunity to improve their education.

CoEd's U.S. Office Has Moved!
New location combines practicality and innovation

Before: Staff members at the former office attempt to have a lunch meeting while invading the workspace of four employees.

After: The new office space provides us with an optimal facility that allows us to focus on achieving our mission.

For the past 16 years, Cooperative for Education has operated out of a 100-year-old, three-bedroom house in Cincinnati's Oakley neighborhood. As the organization's size increased over the years (from two to 14 staff members), so did our need for space. On April 28, CoEd's U.S. staff relocated to a more spacious, yet cost-effective facility in Westwood (where I-74 meets I-75). The new location is equipped with cutting-edge technology to allow for international team meetings, ample space for volunteers, and overall greater efficiencies for the CoEd staff. With the increased organization and productivity that the new office will allow, the Cincinnati team can better focus on providing Guatemalan children with the best possible educational opportunities.

CoEd's 2012-17 Strategic Plan
Enhancing our ability to achieve our mission

With your support, Cooperative for Education has carried out the mission of helping Guatemalan schoolchildren break the cycle of poverty through education for the past 16 years. To propel us into the future, we have established a new Strategic Plan with these four initiatives that will provide guidance for the next five years.

1. Focus on Microregions: Geographically focusing future growth into concentrated areas will allow our programs to work collaboratively, maximizing impact and cost-effectiveness. (Note: We'll continue to work in all the schools and regions that currently house CoEd programs.)

2. Expand the Scholarship Program: More youth will have the opportunity to complete their education when the scholarship program expands to several times its current size.

3. Expand Textbook Teacher Training: By providing more comprehensive teacher training as part of our Textbook Program, the quality of secondary education will further improve.

4. Build Strategic Relationships: Through partnerships with select nonprofit organizations and the Guatemalan government, we can enhance the scope and depth of our impact.

Ultimately it is your support that helps these goals become reality. We thank you, because you help Guatemalan youth obtain a quality education and break the cycle of poverty.
