Dear Friend,

Summer is anything but slow around here! Between our recent office move, upcoming tours, and new partnership with Groupon, we have a lot of excitement to share with all of you who make our programs in Guatemala possible.

Groupon Grassroots Partnership
Philanthropic e-Commerce site helps CoEd reach goals

We’ve got some exciting news, and we want you to be the first to know: This July 2-8, we’re teaming up with Groupon Grassroots, the philanthropic arm of Groupon, to fund a project that impacts our students in Guatemala! Grassroots is a community outreach initiative within Groupon that brings people together to do good, have fun, and create positive change in their community. With this initiative, we hope to provide 192 school supply kits to primary school students in CoEd’s Culture of Reading Program (CORP).

A primary school student in Guatemala receives a school supply kit from CoEd.

Here’s how you can help build momentum for this campaign:
  1. Subscribe to Groupon in Cincinnati or Dayton before the campaign launch on July 2. (You can subscribe even if you are outside of the Cincinnati/Dayton area.) Or visit the Groupon site on July 2 when the campaign launches.
  2. Be the first to give by supporting CoEd’s Guatemalan School Supply Kits campaign.
  3. Spread the word to friends and family, encouraging them to do the same. Your recommendation of CoEd is essential to building credibility in the eyes of your friends and family who might not know about our work yet.
Double your impact

Even more exciting, our friends at Business Information Solutions, Inc. are sponsoring the campaign, so the first $1,000 of school supply kits purchased through Groupon will be matched dollar for dollar!

We’ll keep you in the loop and send another update with social media links once the campaign launches. Thank you for your support!

Zero Degrees of Kevin Bacon
CoEd's Celebrity Bookends are one step closer to fame
Kevin Bacon shows his support for CoEd on the set of the movie RIPD

Can a pair of bookends help Cooperative for Education break the cycle of poverty in Guatemala by becoming famous? Kevin Bacon, the most connected man in the world, is just one of the many celebrities CoEd's Celebrity Bookends have met in this social media experiment. Let's see if a once ordinary set of bookends can become as famous as Kim Kardashian and auction for $1,000,000 to help CoEd provide children in Guatemala with a chance at a better education.

See who else CoEd's Celebrity Bookends have met!
